Womens Freedom during Chinas Revolutionary Period Essay

Womens Freedom during Chinas Revolutionary Period During the revolutionary period in China from 1921 to 1934, although there were undercurrents of an actual feminist movement, according to Kay Ann Johnson in Women, the Family Peasant Revolution in China, women’s progress resulted more as a necessity of the war than the leadership’s commitment to emancipate women. Furthermore, when tension arose between men and women, the leadership usually appeased men over women. By not discussing the mentality of the political parties and the dynamics of the war, Hughes and Hughes’ critique lacks an explanation of the underlying motives that drove these parties to sometimes support women and other times reject women’s interests.†¦show more content†¦Hughes and Hughes refer to the Guomindang (KMT), another revolutionary party, that issued demands â€Å"for equality between the sexes, permission for women to inherit property, [and] free marriage and divorce† (HH 236). However, Hughes and Hughes do not fully explain the tensions and underlying reasons for the CCP’s support of women. Johnson, on the other hand, argues that from the onset, the â€Å"Party distrusted the feminist groups themselves as elitist, bourgeois reformers† (Johnson 40). Therefore, any progress made by the Party in favor of women was not true emancipation but emancipation disguised under ulterior motives. Instead, the Party deemed women’s reforms advantageous to their political strategy and position in the war. For example, after 1928, the Communists’ policies were aimed at increasing women’s activities that supported the war effort and the economy. It became important for the Party to win women’s support because women were able to affect men’s decisions. Sometimes women would attempt to dissuade their husbands or sons from joining the army. Therefore, by gaining women’s support, men’s participation in the ar my would increase. In addition, being able to teach women agricultural duties greatly increased the availability of men for battle. Thus, a successful war effort meant that the Party was able â€Å"to tap theShow MoreRelatedWomen through Time and around the World that Have Fought for Gender Equality 1231 Words   |  5 PagesThe twentieth century witnessed many changes in the daily lives of women, from the domestic roles to the public. Essay about Critique of The Play Foxfire - 686 Words

Critique of The Play Foxfire *Works Cited Not Included The play I saw was called Foxfire. This play was about an old woman named Annie Nations who lived in Raybun County, Georgia. Her husband Hector had died five years earlier leaving her alone in their home in the mountains. However, she did not feel alone because she still saw Hector and spoke to him. Their son Dillard had long been trying to persuade her to come live with him in Florida. Prince Carpenter was a real estate agent who wanted to buy her hundreds of acres of land for 100 thousand dollars, but could not convince her to sell. She eventually must choose to either leave the home she had know for so many years to go live with her son and grandchildren or to stay there†¦show more content†¦If I had not been blessed with a sufficient amount of sleep the night before, I may not of stayed awake to see the ending. I think that Annie would have been happier if she could have stayed in the mountains with Hector for the rest of her life, whether he was actually there or not. She is an old woman. Why start a new beginning and a life somewhere else when she is perfectly content where she is? Let her finish her life where she is happiest. The setting with the log cabin and mountains were very believable. The pigs head and the black juice that squirted out looked very real. They definitely brought me into the world of the play. However, I was surprised when I discovered that this play took place in 1982. Hectors costume was more believable as an outfit from 1982 than Annies which looked to me like she was somewhere in 1882. At first, I thought Holly was a little girl in a school dress. She looked as if she was supposed to be much younger and I thought that she was a young girl until it was brought to my attention that she was a schoolteacher. The one part that had me confused for about five whole minutes was the part where Annie was having a baby. She still had her gray hair, her old woman costume, and she was still thin. I heard them talking on stage about the baby coming and I did not know who was pregnant. I kept trying to figure out who was

When it comes to poets and rappers, the biggest similarities are their appeal to transfer a message. The substance may different, but the need to induce an emotional response is the same. There is repeatedly the use of metaphors In poetry and rap to express their message and some are written that allows readers or listeners to make their own analysis.Song and poetry, They both express emotions or a message In some way, And they both use a very similar method. In the other hand, Scavenger, Groomsman Sprout (2004) claim that not all combinations work well, if there is any existence of inconformity teen music and scent. In such cases, it is better to use only one ambient factor music. Thus, it proved that retailer should pay more attention on choosing music and considerate it seriously. The impact of music on perceived waiting time is investigated by Hull, Dubbed, Achebe (1997). Long waiting time would dissatisfy the customers, in turn, lower the market advantage. Retailer always tries to reduce the wait duration by fasten the process, in order to offer a higher degree of satisfaction. However, it found that time perception can be controlled by playing appropriate music which specific heartsickness, that is to say, music can determine the satisfaction of service. Music can eliminate the abrasion of silent and strangeness, it shorten the distance between salesperson and customers. (Arena, 2003) Salesperson persuasiveness might be influenced by kinds of music. All the above academic references are going to state the evidence to support music can definitely have a certain influence in sales volume. Research Questions and Methodology Tempo, volume and consistence are the 3 factors to be evaluated on the impact on consumer behavior. However, there are no direct relations between above factors awards fashion brands. Tempo and volume are the characteristics of music, while consistence is varied by the consumers perception without exact definition. In order to studies it more specific, 2 different research methods are going to conduct. Is used to study the consistence between brands image and the style of music. The questions, listed below are basic of the questionnaires. 1. What is the range of tempo and volume that can optimize the duration of shopping? 2. How music under different level of tempo and volume increase the purchasing probability? 3. How music affects the perception of waiting time with efferent tempo and volume? . What is the response when consumer received a song which inconsistent to the brand image? 5. How the 3 factors cooperated to increase the sales performance? Experimental Design method is used to investigate the response of consumer to a situation with 1-2 independent variables. First of all, server scenarios are set in a fashion store as below, 1. Background music with me dium volume and tempo 2. Without Background music 3. Background music with low volume and low tempo 4. Background music with high volume and high tempo 5. Background music with low volume and high tempo . Background music with high volume and low tempo 7. Background music with consistent image to the brand 8. Background music with inconsistent image to the brand For scenario 1 and 2 are the control-experiments, used for comparing the effects of variable. In scenario 3-6, dependent variables are the style of song and independent variables are the level of volume and tempo, and vice versa in scenario 7-8. The range of high or low volume and tempo are needed to be specified. Each interviewee is asked to experience to one of the scenarios in shop and each scenario is experienced by 10 people. After the experience, time for the whole trip and the amount of money spent is recorded and the interviewees any motion is observed. Also, questionnaire will be delivered to interviewee to evaluate their emotional changes. Later on the average time spent and expenditure is calculated and compared. Other related data is also collected and some statistical analysis is done to evaluate the founding. Potential Contribution The findings generated can act as the academic references for university students as well as encourage them for further study in this field.
